The 2 Best Trading Journal Tools

The best traders in the world will tell you success begins with a trading journal. This is the fastest way to speed up your learning curve.

Here, I’ll provide some great options for record keeping using trading journal spreadsheets.

Greg Thurman has created hands down the best Trading Journal Spreadsheets around. This is a great way to get the most functionality out of your trading journal without the hassle of creating the spreadsheets yourself.

An alternate to record keeping in Microsoft excel would be the highly popular StockTickr web based software. The ease of uploading trades right from your broker really saves a lot of time.

My Two Favorite Picks

Yes, there is a cost associated with these spreadsheets, but in my experience it is the best purchase you will make as a trader.

There are other options out there, but these are the two I use and prefer.  Check them out for yourself and decide which you like best!

I can’t tell you how much I’ve benefited from these trading journals, so don’t put it off, get started building your own trading journal right now.

  1. I have never seen this volatility in my 3 years of Trading career…

What a Move today it was..

I bet it was like this during 2008 crash and 1987 crash.

Did you trade off of this volatility Tim?

    • Eden, while the volatility today was higher than usual Fed days, every 6 weeks the Fed hold’s their meeting which leads to extreme volatility during the day. I stop trading well in advance of the announcement if I place any trades at all on fed days.
